Yun Yun Gong, Associate Professor in International Food Security & Safety , University of Leeds, UK, visited Jiangsu University on Oct,31. Zhou Jun, the Secretary of CPC Branch of School of Food and Biological Engineering, introduced Dr. Gong. Associate Prof. Yun Yun Gong delivered an academic lecture named Biomarkers for aflatoxin research.
Aflatoxin is associated with cancer and child stunting. Common exposure biomarkers include blood aflatoxin albumin adducts (AF-alb) and urine aflatoxin M1 (AFM1). The latter reflects recent 24hour exposure but AF-alb reflects the previous month’s exposure. A comparative study of the two biomarkers of exposure will be introduced.
