The traditional Chinese art of couplet and paper cutting was held in the food building on Jan.13, 2014. Paper cutting is a kind of Chinese traditional manual art that people cut the paper into different patterns with a pair of ordinary scissors. The paper cutting is a traditional folk craft in the north of China which was created about two thousand years ago. Couplet is the exquisite article of folk-custom culture, which is used to celebrate, decorate and express self-cultivation.

Many people hang couplet inscriptions on either side of doors, the doors are pasted with vertical scrolls of characters on red paper whose inscriptions seek good luck or happiness. Students from different countries made their performance and had a very good day, which helped them understand Chinese traditional culture.
